About The Project
Invenergy started developing Royal Road Solar after signing our first lease in 2019. Since then, we have continued our land campaign and conducted numerous engineering, interconnection, and environmental studies. As Royal Road continues to progress through late-stage development, we are largely focused on securing a permit for the project, and compiling all necessary components for the Police Jury and local community. Currently, we plan to start construction in 2026 and be online in 2027.
We are excited to share that we will be sponsoring the Mamou Cajun Music Festival on September 13 and 14, and the Cotton Festival in October! We are honored to support the Mamou and Evangeline Parish communities, and hope to see you there!
We have enjoyed to getting to know the Evangeline Parish community over the past few years. To learn more about our efforts, check out our community engagement page!
Invenergy takes an industry-leading approach to vegetation management. We are committed to developing and implementing project-specific vegetation and soil management plans for every solar site we build. Customized to suit diverse geographic regions and specific site conditions, these plans describe our methods for installing and maintaining regionally appropriate ground cover, such as grasses, legumes, and forbs. They also focus on the preservation of topsoil and minimization of soil erosion, sediment runoff, and weed proliferation to prioritize the long-term health of the land for our landowners and communities. Invenergy will follow all vegetation screening requirements outlined in the current local Solar Ordinance, which can be found on our Documents tab.
Royal Road Solar will abide by all current local ordinance requirements which can be found on our Documents tab.
Setbacks outlined in the Ordinance include:
To avoid and minimize impacts to wildlife and other natural resources, we work with state and federal agencies along with other interested stakeholders to site, build, and operate our facilities responsibly. The cornerstone of that effort is our commitment to act in accordance with the US Fish and Wildlife Service's Land-based Wind Energy Guidelines, which include robust pre-construction wildlife and habitat surveys, early and often communication with wildlife agencies, and operational monitoring to ensure risk to wildlife is minimized.
We plan to pursue a road-use permit prior to starting construction at Royal Road. All parish roads and infrastructure will be left in the same or better condition than prior to their use for the construction or on-going maintenance of the project. Such repairs will be completed at no cost to Evangeline Parish.
